1978 Mercury Marquis Alarm System

CLICK MORE INFO – A short look at the car again, then I show the different parts that make up the older type of alarm systems that are commonly seen on 70′s and 80′s cars. They seemed to have slowly been phased out by the late 80′s. The lock and key was made by Chicago Lock Company (Ace) and the siren does not have a label on it.

    fascinating alarm system

  3. Very interesting. I’ve never seen a car alarm that old before, i guess living in a place like Chicago you would have a high car theft problem? that alarm would scare anyone away. Let me know if you ever come across the old bug deflector for these cars, on your next journey to the junkyard i still have some the remanence of mine.

  4. Well, I have seen a lot of older cars in junkyards around here that have them, usually the “nicer” cars had them, like Mercurys, Lincolns, Cadillacs, Oldsmobiles, some Pontiacs and Buicks, I actually rarely see them on Ford and Chrysler cars though so I was surprised that my Mercury has one

Also, these alarms are not from the factory, they were installed by independent alarm companies.
